Went to the farm for youth turkey hunting with Remington. The first day was definitely a challenge as the turkeys quit gobbling once the flew down from the roost and the same thing happened on day two as well. So we resorted to fishing on the first day and what a day we had. Caught a mess of fish to feed us all that night.
This was the first stringer from our pond..
Second stringer from Martins and McMillians.
But on the second day of hunting even though the turkeys weren't answer to a call we did have a lone gobbler come in. He was very curious he never did go into a full strut but he would puff up a little. This would have been Rems first turkey but dad messed up. The turkey came in on my side so I was trying to get the bird farther up the field so Rem could get a better shot. And as luck would have it the bird got cold feet and decided do a 180 and resort back to the timber. At least he didn't run off being spooked. Ten minutes later a hen came in the same way and once again she turned back to timber. So that's how the youth hunt came to a end as we headed back to the farm for breakfast around 10. Up next the regular turkey season and I can't wait. Besides if the huntings bad there's always mushrooms to pick.
